Coursework: Cast

Lewis - Victim(Roger)

Roger is a CEO of a corrupted company, he has to look rich and well fed. You should see that he has excess wealth and has no concern for other but himself and his family. He is someone who you would not trust when you see him for the first time.
Lewis has a round face(shape representation) which may give the audience a sense of vulnerability and unprotected vibe.

Micky- Murderer

The murderer in this case is the main character and he is supposed to look fairly tall and imposing. Hiding in the shadows and making his presence unknown. But in this case we don't see him at all in the opening as he always hides in the darkness so it does not matter what the actor looks like as the character's appearance plays a small part in expressing the character's personality and story.

Coursework: Inspiration

This being a crime/thriller we had a lot to work with.

These are the pieces of media that we have decided to borrow ideas from

  • The Usual Suspects
  • The Silence of the Lambs
  • The Departed
  • Se7en
  • Pulp Fiction
  • Chinatown
  • Hannibal (series)
  • Dexter (series)
  • The Prestige
  • Nightcrawler
  • Batman
  • Brick

Most of the are crime thriller with restricted narrative range where we move along the story with the main characters. It's fairly formulaic. We are still unsure whether to use unrestricted or restricted narrative.

These are some examples

Coursework: Costume

There are two main characters in this, the killer and Roger

Killer

The killer firstly had to have black clothes that will allow him to conceal in the darkness and not have possible blood splatter visible on his clothes. He also had to look fairly intimidating. The dark long concealing costume that signifies secrecy and illusiveness. This would take form of a black trench coat or something of that sort.

What actually happened was that in the opening the killer barely had any screen time at all so we didn't have do much

Roger

He is a shady and also morally corrupt, evil if you will. He has to look calm and collected while showing that he is wealthy and powerful. You are supposed to look at him and feel that something is iffy about that person. This is why we're going with a smart looking casual clothes

This is what the actual thing looks like

Coursework: Location

This was probably the easiest thing for me to do surprisingly enough. Very early in the project I had decided to use our schools fairly gigantic lake as the setting.

There are some reasons for this.
Firstly, it provides a beautiful backdrop for our film opening at anytime of day. At first the film opening was going to incorporate sunrise bu we have now change it to night time but I'm certain that it'll still look great.
Secondly, it's next to our own school's residents village which we will now use to our advantage as a bonus setting in our project.
Lastly, it's pretty easy to get permission to use this as it is the schools

We decided to do it in the even when the sun is setting because it allows for very beautiful and scenic shots. Though this means that we have fairly limited time to shoot some of the shots.
