Coursework: Evaluation #4

How did you integrate technologies - software, hardware and online - in this project?

I am someone who is very interested in hardware and software. I do learn computer science after all. So coming into this forced us to learn so much about media and how it utilities hardware and software together to create the best piece of media it can.

Hardware

This is what allows us to utilize software which in turn allows us to create this in the first place.

Computer

Firstly is obviously our computers to gain access to websites and connect software and hardware all together. Without our computers then this wouldn't have happened

Camera

Camera = Canon 80D

Canon 80D is an DSLR wih a
  • 24MP APS-C CMOS sensor with Dual Pixel AF
  • 45-point AF system with all cross-type points
  • 3" 1.04M-dot articulating touchscreen
  • 1080/60p video capture
  • 7 fps continuous shooting with AF
  • Weather-resistant body
  • 7560-pixel RGB+IR Metering Sensor
  • Wi-Fi + NFC

This is Lewis' camera that we got to use. It did everything you needed it to do and was great for the job. It was able to record at 1080p 60fps which was just he perfect amount for us.

Lens = Tamron 35mm f1.8

This allowed us to make Bokeh footage like this:
 The lens had VC(vibration control) which helped stabilize shots.
We also had a tripod to stabilize the shots.

Microphone= Rode Video Mic go

This mic helped us record background sound for some of our shots and canceled redundant sound when its not needed.

iPhone 6s

This was used to make time lapse during filming process and record dialogue in after production on voice memo.

Software

Adobe Premiere Pro

This is what we chose as our editing software for this project as it is one of the most well developed and also one of the most used which means that finding help for it will be much easier.

This allows us to connect all of the footage from the hardware together into one fluid piece. It allows us to change and tune aspects of it to our desire. Dragging and dropping sound and video to sync it up together so that it makes sense.
We were able to colour correct to make the colour in the films like what we wanted it to be. This gives the product a greater polish making it more believable and immersive to the audience.
This also allowed us to place credits with our name on the product

Voice memo

Voice memo was used after filming as, the sound on the footage taken was not great, due to background noise. We integrated this with Premiere to make up for the terrible recording we had on set, this allows the phone call to be much more clear for the audience to hear. Voice memo is basically the program used to record sound, which is an app on the iPhone. We only used this once as there were little to no dialogue in our product.

We also used several websites

YouTube:
to find tutorials that helped us, music for our project, inspirations

Purple Planet:
website that provides royalty free music

Blogger:
Blogger is what we use to record our progress own, this allows us to go back a see what we've done, and what could have been improve.

Google maps:
We use google maps to identify the location of where we are filming.
